Whilst in Sydney I was able to visit another burger place I’d heard good things about and was super keen to check out. Down N’ Out is located in the Sir John Young Hotel right in the middle of the Sydney CBD. Which is fantastic as you can have a beer with your burger. Burgers and beers, beers and burgers, what more could you ask for?!
Actually I shared these burgers and beers with a couple of fantastic lads. That beats just burgers and beers.
So we placed our order and then went to the bar for a beverage. Today we would be starting with a bottle of Young Henrys Winter Hop Ale.
It was a great start.
Then not long later our food was ready!! Yessssss! Bring it on.
We all got the same burger because the first guy to place his order did such a bang up job that we just followed suit.
He, and therefore we, got the Double with bacon. The Double burger is:
- Double Wagyu Beef
- Double American Cheese
- Secret Sauce
- on their Signature Bun
It’s a great burger, it’s huge and it’s tasty.
I have become so comfortable with this food blogging experience and eating that I instinctively also went for a side of fries topped with liquid cheese, caramelised onion, and the burger sauce on them. Despite the fact that I wasn’t overly hungry.
This style of fries with toppings are called loaded fries at a lot of places but Down N’ Out have named theirs Tiger Fries.
The caramelised onions were cold which I thought was weird. But it somehow worked. I enjoyed the combo.
Overall a great experience with fantastic staff and food.
I give them 8.5 American Cheeses out of 10.
